This collection follows in the footsteps of the earlier volume, Chimes of Dunkirk, and the music is interchangeable. New features of this book include a chapter on composing dances using traditional forms and figures, and a brief introduction on calling dances. A glossary, tune transcriptions, and combined index for Chimes and Mockingbird are also included. The 24 dances can be done by all ages and are intended for teachers, community dance callers and recreation leaders to use in building respect and confidence through longways, circle, square, and contra dances. The recording, which features full length reels, jigs, polkas, and waltzes performed by fine New England musicians, provides an opportunity for the teacher to dance along with the students.
