Gloria

Craig Courtney's setting of the traditional Latin text is reminiscent of Randall Thompson:  a brief choral work on the "Gloria" text, a cappella, with an effervescent joy, occasional meter shifts and the change in mood on "et in terra pax."  Small percussion instruments add just a touch of sparkle and occasional divisi give richness and color at just the appropriate times.  Suitable for Christmas concerts and church services, festival appearances, as a concert opener or service prelude, this promises to be one of Craig's most enduring works and we offer it to singers everywhere with our highest recommendation.
