Featuring offstage trumpets and percussion, Havener Fanfare is not your typical concert opener. The antiphonal trumpets plaintively begin, joined gradually by the rest of the ensemble. The mood of the music changes from uncertainty to triumphant optimism as the piece concludes with great joy.
