Introduction and Variations on an Old Polish Carol
Alexander Guilmant/arr. Paul Erwin
- Music By Paul Erwin
Few can beat the organist-composers of the nineteenth century French Organ School in the creation of beautiful and interesting set of variations on a theme, especially a carol. Alexander Guilmant composed a whole volume of these Christmas theme and variations sets, including this one, based on the familiar Polish carol known in English as Infant Holy, Infant Lowly. This theme and three variations is a delight to perform in holiday programs and brings a beautiful school of composition back to light, pleasing audiences all the while.
