Learning the blues never tasted so good! Set at around 120 bpm, Pepperoni Blues is a classic swing chart that is sure to have everyone asking for seconds. The introduction is set over a C pedal that leads to a unison statement of the melody. A shout chorus after the solo section features some attractive cross-rhythms and syncopation. This one is completely flexible and is playable by any four horns and rhythm section on up to full jazz ensemble instrumentation and beyond. Young soloists can improvise using only the notes of the concert F blues scale with the included transposed scale sheet. For soloists wishing to not improvise, there is a suggested solo included in all parts. Very nice, and flexible too! Highly recommended!
