Both the A and B sections are in a fast tempo with the A consisting of fanfare-like figures over an ostinato and the B section more developmental incorporating counterpoint. The tempo for the C section is moderato and is more whimsical with a lot of use of chromaticism. The reverse of the A and B sections for the ending brings the work to an exciting close.
