Draw Me Near

The text of this gospel hymn of discipleship in a verse/refrain style is attributed to Fanny J. Crosby. It has become one of her most widely used texts, appearing in over 500 hymnals. This arrangement begins simply with a solo voice on the first verse with the choir joining on the refrain. There is a short transition after the second refrain that moves into a key change and a more syncopated accompaniment in the third verse. A dramatic ascending sextuplet passage modulates through a second key change and drives the piece to its final refrain and glorious conclusion.
