Benedictus

This classical work by a younger brother of Joseph Haydn features brilliant melismatic lines and a well-crafted piano reduction of the original orchestral score. An opening triadic motive in the sopranos is repeated and developed through the lower voices in imitative fashion before coming to a homophonic section and a stately close. The arranger has done an excellent job making this accessible to school choirs! Excellent editor's notes give thorough historical background on the composer and his work.
