The Blood of Jesus

Using the words of Robert Lowry's beloved hymn Nothing But the Blood, Daniel Mattix has created new music and arranged it in a choral setting. The piano accompaniment works well, but the string quartet version adds great color and support. The minor tonality and phrasing of the melodic lines carry the strong emotions of the piece. At the end we even hear a touch of the original hymn in the closing phrase.
