Kirkpatrick's Muse

This celebratory piece opens with a plaintive Irish style flute solo before moving seamlessly to a vibrant, fast-paced section. This material is loosely based on the Appalachian fiddle tune Glory in the Meeting House which is appropriately introduced by the bodhran (Irish frame drum). Highlighting the simple charm of traditional Irish music, this settingalso features some wild and appealing excursions in color, texture and harmony.
