Workin' on the Railway

An energetic original melody is partnered with the American folk song Drill, Ye Tarriers, Drill in this robust concert offering for young choirs. Describing the construction of the American railroads in the mid 1800s and the role of the tarriers who drilled holes in the rock to blast out the railroad tunnels, this makes a terrific teaching piece for historical context. Percussion parts are included for cowbell and wood blocks which add a hammering effect to enhance both the introduction and interludes in this exciting piece.
