Sirocco

This sweeping work is named for the Mediterranean wind that originates in the Sahara Desert. This phenomenon is musically brought to life, re-creating the changing nature of this arid wind. Beginning with a brief and violent flurry of sound, it then subsides to the calm of a still, hot desert morning. As the air starts to move, the desert comes to life with the music evolving into a 6/8 world-music groove, enhanced by colorful pulsating percussion effects. Building and growing in intensity, the raging sandstorm powers over the landscape to a climactic close.
