Thomas R. Marceau’s beautiful marimba solo A Second Look is a reflective, mellifluous piece that requires a high degree of expression from the performer. The lyrical melody is stretched across an undulating triplet accompaniment requiring dexterity while the rubato nature of the piece allows for a personalized performance. Marceau dedicated this piece to his mother who, as he says in his own words, is “an eternally positive and strong person who doesn’t get caught up in the little things. A Second Look is a commentary on the subtle gifts of daily life.”
