Icelandic Folk Suite No. 1

This rich work adds much to international concert band repertoire. The first movement tells a musical tale of an encounter with an elf maiden, mixing moments of sprightliness with a dreamlike middle section. The slower second movement features an expressive alto saxophone solo with a lushly scored accompaniment. The movements can be performed separately or together in any order.
