Fresh-sounding and programmatic, this work uses chromaticism, rigid rhythms, heavy staccato articulations, and a steady percussion pulse to create the sound of an almost futuristic machine hard at work. An excellent opportunity to develop a multitude of playing and ensemble techniques. Trombone 2 plays some rapid seventh- to first-position passages.
