Each volume includes a separate critical commentary with extensive, detailed notes on the history of each sonata, source information, facsimiles, photographs and portraits. Volume 1 includes 15 sonatas, the three early sonatas (WoO47) through Op. 14, No. 2 and Op. 49, Nos. 1 & 2. Volume 2 includes ten sonatas, Op. 22 through Op. 54, not including Op. 49, Nos. 1 & 2. Volume 3 includes ten sonatas, Op. 57 through Op. 111.
