This wonderful suite for organ, brass (and/or strings), and timpani features arrangements of four classic hymn tunes. A flowing setting of DUKE STREET in 6/8 is followed by a march-like treatment of AZMON with some imitative writing. Next, a transition to the minor key highlights the austere character of WER NER DEN LIEBEN GOTT, and a fanfare-like introduction leads to a final grand setting of DIADEMATA. This piece would be an ideal prelude for a hymn festival or concert.
