Publisher Desc.  Adapted from one of the composer's string quartets (known as the "American"), this high spirited piece suggests the style of American folk music. Dvorak spent several happy months in a small town in Iowa during his visit to the United States, and it's possible this music was intended as a jolly souvenir of those times.
