Chimes: 5. Ti-Ri-Ri
Ti-Ri-Ri, the wordless fifth movement of Gavrilin's Choral Symphony, paints a colorful and theatrical scene. One can almost see young men and women gathering (for a dance, perhaps) and as the voices enter one by one, the listener hears a different character from each vocal part. A musical drama ensues, but the scene ends peacefully with the basses singing their jaunty, sturdy ostinato. (Russian pronunciation guide is available from the publisher's website.)
