Compassion

This dramatic and lyrical composition begins with a plaintive melody offset by a flowing eighth note accompaniment. As the piece builds to a climax, the meter changes from duple to triple, before changing back for the quiet conclusion. Optional two octave handchimes and an optional Bb1 add contrast. This majestic opus is ideal for a Lenten service, or for general concert or worship use throughout the year.
