Fantasy in f minor, KV. 608
An extraordinary work of late Mozart, this title was composed to fulfill a commission for a memorial exhibit in Vienna, to be played in a clock organ, and only later became known as a "fantasy." This composition is in A-B-A form, with two Allegro sections surrounding an Adagio section, considered to incorporate counterpoint principles from Bach while looking ahead to the emotional and harmonic poignancy of Schubert. For woodwind quintets at a medium-advanced level and above.
