In 1974, only 4 members of the Mauritius Kestrel species (a small bird of the falcon family) existed. Through great efforts, led by the late, great naturalist, Gerald Durrell, the species now numbers around 800. This piece celebrates the persistent conservation effort to rescue this once nearly extinct animal.
