Call and response has always been an important part of the jazz idiom. Designed to facilitate the teaching of improvisation, here's a swinging chart that can feature any soloist with suggested or improvised solos. The soloist makes a statement and the ensemble answers. Later, they switch roles, making the chart great fun for players and audiences. Front & Center is scored for full jazz ensemble, yet is playable with as few as 3 or 4 horns and rhythm section with optional parts included for flute, clarinet and horn in F. Highly recommended!
