Thirteen short pieces inspired by the anagrams (a type of word play) of Leonard Stein. Stein (1916-2004) was an American pianist, conductor, musicologist, professor and friend of many great 20th century composers including Schoenberg, Stravinsky and Boulez. These short interrelated movements use no letter-to-pitch correspondences from their titles to the musical score. Instead, they "react" to their titles. Titles are: I'd learn tones; Note slid near; End tonal rise; Liar, send tone!; Listen, a drone (A silent drone); Learns to dine; L A trend: noise; Rinse tone, lad!; Linen ear-dots; Tender as lion; Rest: no denial; Earns toil-end and Done: entrails. Duration is 15 minutes.
