Louisiana 1927
In early 1927 heavy rains in the central United States caused the Mississippi River to overflow its banks and flood Louisiana. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Randy Newman's 1975 song takes on special significance, reminding us that Louisiana will recover just as it did from the flood of 1927. Recently recorded by Aaron Neville, this moving musical tribute is ideal for school choirs. Jay Althouse's haunting arrangement features an optional part for clarinet, which adds a rich, emotional quality to the work.
