Psalm 150
Psalm 150 was composed for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. At the premiere performance in St. Paul's Cathedral, reflective, ethereal sections at key points in the music were sung by a trio positioned in the dome. This arrangement, when performed by concert band alone, has those parts written for three solo trumpets to be placed in the rear or balcony of the concert hall. The work is filled with pageantry and ceremony, ending with the sound of cathedral bells ringing dramatically over the powerful scoring for band.
