Rossini's Ghost
Beginning in 1862, young Reliana hears her mother talk of an opera composer she knew 50 years ago. Soon she finds herself transported in time to a theater in Rome 50 years ealier, where she is invisible to everyone but the composer Signor Rossini. She watches in horror as one of the singers puts a curse on the production of "The Barber of Seville," which has a disastrous premiere. Rossini's Ghost is a story of three women who learn that friendship, like opera, requires nurturing, patience and time. Selections included on the CD are Overtures to "Il Barbiere di Siviglia"; "La Scala di Seta"; "L'Italiana in Algeri"; "La Cenerntola"; "La Gazza Ladra" and "Guillaume Tell."
