Sightreading 201
A sequential instrumental curriculum specifically designed for the development of core music literacy competencies necessary to read music at sight. Each book contains an effective and easy-to-use evaluation and assessment chart; a "constant eighth" concept for rhythmic accuracy; competency sets with exercises clearly labeled addressing each element of meter (time)/rhythm, key signatures/scales, pitch accuracy/intervals/arpeggios; articulation/phrasing, tempo/interpretation/style, and dynamic contrast; an assessment exercise at the end of each competency set for reinforcement and to check for understanding; prominently identified keys, scales, and modes for better comprehension; optional repeats for element reinforcement and extra practice; essential vocabulary and flexibility within the percussion line: top and bottom lines can be used as a traditional snare/bass line or any battery instrument may read either line (or a combination) to reinforce subdivision, pulse, or full ensemble rhythms.
