One of the best TV and movie themes ever, this quirky tune is ideal material for teaching 6/8 and simple syncopation in triple meter. The included percussion gimmicks can be played by string players and staged for added theatrics.
You've seen Superman, Batman, and Spiderman, now meet
Stringman the superhero for today's string orchestra! Your
students and audience will love following the adventures of Stringman as
he comes to the aid of struggling string players and helps rid the concert
hall of annoying band members. Sure to be the hit of any concert,
this crowd-pleaser gives your orchestra plenty of chances to "ham
it up," while the stirring, heroic main theme will definitely motivate
all of your players to soar to new heights! Solo spots are included
for cello, violin, and even a beginning "squeaky" clarinetist!
Very fun and funny!
Check out this fabulous show-stopper, because it's a "must-play" for your orchestra! Incorporating 22 different melodies from the works of Tchaikovsky, this is an incredibly clever and sometimes humorous medley that even includes the 1812 Overture accompanied by the popping of paper bags! It's amazing how seamlessly each melody leads into the next. You would think Tchaikovsky himself had intended it to work like this. We guarantee that everyone...students, audience, and yes, even grumpy musicologists will find this delightful piece simply irresistible!
It's usually the brass and percussion that
get all the fun patriotic tunes, but here's a great medley of patriotic
tunes just for strings! Yankee Doodle; You're a Grand Old
Flag; Columbia Gem of The Ocean; and Dixie are arranged with
all the thrills and trills you would expect. Although written around
the medium level, this one could be played by Medium-Easy level orchestras
with enough rehearsal time. It's exciting and uplifting!
The simple, memorable theme from the acclaimed PBS series makes excellent concert fare. Calvin Custer's realistic treatment includes the easy violin solo, piano and percussion. This is technically quite easy, but very emotional.
Two classic melodies get the fiddle treatment
in this clever arrangement from Richard Meyer! The themes from J.S. Bach's
Minuet in G and Brandenburg Concerto #5 work just fine with
a few fiddle licks thrown in! Carefully arranged with the young performer
in mind, this delightful piece has a "virtuoso sound" but is
playable by groups at the easy level. A selection that's fun for the players
and enjoyable for the audience!
