This wonderful resource is divided into two major sections: Part One: Ways to Use Instruments Creatively in Worship, and Part Two: The Creative Use of Instruments in Hymnsinging. Part One is a mini-course in arranging hymntunes for instruments with practical suggestions for woodwinds, brass, and string sections as well as for percussion and Orff instruments. Also included is an Instrumental Information Chart for Arrangers which gives the range, transposition, abbreviations, and colors of instruments in their various registers. Part Two consists of instrumental ideas for almost 300 hymntunes. These settings represent a wide variety of instruments and the ways they may be used as solos, duets, quartets, etc. There are also 107 hymn settings for full orchestra and organ. This is a resource no church music director should be without!
