Sir Henry Williams Baker was born in London, May 27, 1821, and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he graduated, B.A. 1844, M.A. 1847. Taking Holy Orders in 1844, he became Vicar of Monkland, Herefordshire. Sir Henry's name is intimately associated with hymnody. One of his later songs based on the 23rd Psalm, "The King of Love, My Shepherd Is," is here combined with the Irish Melody, St Columba.The two verses featured are: The King of love my shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never, I nothing lack if I am his, and he is mine forever.And so through all the lengths of days, thy goodness faileth never; Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house forever.
