Remel M. Derrick (b. 1981) Composer, Conductor, and Choral editor is a music graduate of Southwestern Christian College and Abilene Christian University. Remel is the Associate Director of Choirs at Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas where he shares in the responsibilities of directing both varsity and non-varsity choirs, as well as teaching AP Music Theory. Remel is the Associate Director of Choirs at Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas where he shares in the responsibilities of directing both varsity and non-varsity choirs, as well as teaching AP Music Theory. Remel's compositions are self-published with his company, Summit Pointe Music Publishing (BMI), and he also has works published with Walton Music and Brilee Music. He has recently completed commissions for Abilene Christian University, and the Forth Worth Chorale, for their Schola Cantorum program. He is the 2021 winner of the Huntsville Master Chorale composition contest and the 2023 winner of the Call for Scores composition contest sponsored by The Singers-Minnesota Choral Artists of Minneapolis, Minnesota. A native of Dallas, Texas, Remel currently lives in Abilene, Texas with his wife Angela, their daughter Caylie, and their Mini Aussie, Asher.
