Christopher W. Johnson is a music educator and composer, and has taught primarily in the band field for nine years. He is self-published under the name CWJ Music House Publications. His career experience has led him to New Brunswick, NJ, where he teaches beginning band, general music, and is a staff member of the New Brunswick Public Schools Jazz Band. During his career in New Brunswick, he has worked closely with VH1 Save the Music to revive the instrumental music program that had previously been defunct for nearly 20 years. He has written pieces for numerous ensembles in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and is the Composer-in-Residence for the Whitehouse Wind Symphony in Somerville, NJ. Christopher focuses his writing in programmatic, concert and contest music for bands of all levels. It is his desire to compose quality music that is enjoyable yet playable by all. Following his cancer diagnosis and treatments in 2012, Mr. Johnson and CWJ Music House Publications have made it a mission to advocate for all cancer victims. The New Day, A Symphony for Wind Band, is a recent monumental work that will pay tribute to those have suffered from cancer during their lifetime. CWJ Music House Publications will donate 5% of all sales to the American Cancer Society, in hope that one day we may find a cure.
