MBB has over 40 years of experience at jazz, blues, rock, pop, and classical performance, teaching, and composition. He has a BM in composition from the UW-Madison, 79, and has studied composition with Les Thimmig and John Downey, and jazz theory and piano performance with Hal Galper, Barry Harris, and Ted Jackson. His classical teachers were Prof. Leo Steffens, a student of Robert Casadeseus, and Ruth Schoening. He teaches all manner of music composition and piano performance at Madison Academy of Music at Hilldale Mall, in Madison, WI.
The materials presented on J.W. Pepper represent his creative and pedagogical output of these last four decades. His works include original music for piano solo, and vocal, string and chamber music, as well as the GateWay Editions catalog of resettings, editions, and arrangements of classical piano standard repertoire for "the average hand and technique", all of which are full-length, and in the original keys.
