Debbie Allen is a public-school music educator, with experience teaching at all grade levels in vocal and instrumental music. Creating original music for school bands and orchestras, to challenge and inspire kids, is a way of giving back to honor the inspiration and enlightenment received as an educator. In addition to teaching assignments, Debbie served as the K-12 Performing Arts Curriculum Specialist for the Shawnee Mission School District in Kansas for 11 years. One of the achievements she is most proud of is becoming a Partner in Education with the John F. Kennedy Performing Arts Center in Washington D.C., a position she held for four years, allowing her to provide arts integration training to all subject-area teachers. Debbie holds degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Emporia State University. She is currently principal clarinetist of the Kansas City Civic Orchestra, an Adjunct Faculty instructor at Baker University and spends summers working at Interlochen Center for the Arts Summer Camp. show less
