J.W. Pepper Sousaphone Featured in Scholarly Text
-The early Sousaphone manufactured by J.W. Pepper is featured in a new book published by University of Illinois Press.

The famous J.W. Pepper sousaphone, considered one of, if not the earliest sousaphone in existence is featured in a scholarly text by Paul Edmund Bierly entitled "The Incredible Band of John Philip Sousa." Published in 2006 by University of Illinois Press, the text details the times, staff, tours, and legacy of one of the most renowned bands in American music history. Included in the work is an extensive appendix listing the band's performance schedule, a staff roster, typical band programs, a play list of songs and a lengthy discography. This is an excellent resource for Sousa aficionado's and history buffs alike.
