DUBLIN, CALIFORNIA — February 26, 2011 — From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday February 26, 2011, J.W. Pepper of Dublin will host a day of events with Frank Ticheli. This complimentary event is open to all J.W. Pepper customers.  Seating is limited so guests are encouraged to RSVP via email to sanfrancisco@jwpepper.com.  Ticheli will open the day with a lecture on his approach to passionate music-making and will take questions from the audience.  A catered lunch will be served followed by a score-signing session.  Scores and complete sets from his newest works as well as his older compositions will be available for purchase.  Ticheli's publisher, Manhattan Beach Music, has also generously donated several pieces of his music to be given away in a drawing.

Frank Ticheli's music has been described as "optimistic and thoughtful"  (LA Times) and "brilliantly effective" (Miami Herald). His orchestral and concert band works have received considerable recognition. He has won awards from The American Academy of Arts and Letters, and The American School Band Directors Association honored him for making "exceptional contributions to the school band movement in America." Ticheli received his Doctoral and Master's degrees in music composition from The University of Michigan and is currently a Professor of Composition at the USC Thornton School of Music.

Tichelli will appear at J.W. Pepper following his appearance as guest conductor and adjudicator for the Chabot College Wind Band Festival on February 25, 2011.  School bands from all over Northern California will perform in exhibition onstage while Ticheli provides constructive recorded adjudication.  The night will end with Chabot Wind Symphony in concert, performing three of Ticheli's newest compositions: Rest, San Antonio Dances, and Angels in the Architecture.  Ticheli himself will guest conduct on these pieces.
