Concerto in A
Though written by an English Baroque composer, this three-movement work was written in the Italian style. The first movement is an allegro with uniform phrases and spritely character. The middle movement is more somber and should be played with breadth of style and clear rhythms. The energetic last movement is almost a jig, using a rondo form. The piece features a solo quartet at times in a concerto grosso format.
