This is a new work for choir based on the Sullivan Ballou letter, written by the Civil War soldier before the Battle of Bull Run. When the soldier was killed in battle, the letter was retrieved and delivered to his wife and family. The work includes soprano and alto divisi, with solo opportunities for tenor and bass. The text from the original letter has been adjusted to suit the musical environment created in this work.
