The ability to sight-read is not a gift and need not be a chore; rather, it is a matter of tackling and mastering challenges in short segments that encourage and lead the learner to discovery and mastery of specific and necessary skills. This foundation course contains 40 lessons in treble, bass, and mixed formats, with introductions and primer lessons that provide foundational choral concepts for choral students in grades 6-12 and coordinate perfectly with the Choral Literacy and Standards rubrics. Your students will be able to independently count and read rhythms; read and understand key signatures; audiate; sing and differentiate melody and harmony; understand and apply most common musical terms, articulations and expression marks; sing their part; evaluate their progress; and meet or exceed state and national standards.
