North Star (2017) for flute choir was recorded by the UNLV Flutes under the direction of Jennifer Grim Fall 2018. The original version, North Star: A Listener's Guide to the Flute Choir was commissioned by Sirocco Flutes of Las Vegas on behalf of Nevada's Jackpot Grant to create a piece inspired by Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra that demonstrates the instruments of the flute choir and its colorful combinations. It was premiered with narrator at the Clark County Library April 2, 2017. Similar to the Britten, this piece works with or without a narrator. If performed without narrator, the version is titled North Star, with only slight modifications from the original with narrator.
