The Day of Resurrection
Easter triumph resounds from the opening fanfare of this brilliant arrangement of LANCASHIRE. Scored for SATB voices and organ, it features congregation throughout and optional brass quartet and timpani. After the thrilling opening fanfare, unison voices and congregation sing the first stanza. A gradually thickening choral texture leads to full four-part harmony on stanza two, enlivened by nice strokes of harmonic color in the accompaniment. Chorusing "alleluias" soar through the modulating transition to the final stanza, where a descant crowns unison voices culminating in a return of the "alleluias" for the postlude. Use the final eight measures as an introit.
