The Classical Sight-Singing Series
In this classic series of sight-singing material, composer Hank Beebe has succeeded in capturing the spirit and ambiance of the Classical period in all its rich variety. Beginning with simple, step-wise motion, the exciting chord progressions and choral lines are spiced-up with a wide variety of rhythmic devices, creating an opportunity for beginning readers to experience the thrill of sight-singing "real music." While basically homophonic, this series is rhythmically challenging. Often, a lyrical melody in one voice part is accompanied by a rhythmic texture created by the other voices, and the melodies often alternate among the voice parts, so that altos, tenors, and basses also have the opportunity to sing melodies, not just harmonies. This series also employs various articulations, rhythmic patterns and tempo variations, bringing choirs with limited reading ability to a high level of musicianship. The four volumes progress with sequential concepts and difficulty, and are available in separate editions for SATB, SAB, SSAA, SSA, TTB, TBB and TTBB choirs. Available in a budget-stretching fully reproducible digital download format, this resource will be useful for many years to come!
