Bread of Heaven

While an obvious choice for a communion anthem, the text based on John 6:33 takes us beyond the immediate table into the world outside. Pleading with the "Holy Bread of Heaven" for peace, justice, unity, and an end to suffering and violence, this anthem is very timely for our world situation. The E minor tonality is somber yet hopeful, the piano accompaniment simple but supportive.
