On My Way

One of the world’s most salient features is that there is so much trouble, but one of the world's deepest hopes is for something better. The tension between these two ideas is the binding theme of this collection of choral works. The centerpiece of the collection, Knut Nystedt's Prayers of Kierkegaard, is surrounded by a myriad of contemporary settings of American folk songs and spirituals. The contemplation of trouble and transcendence heard throughout these songs is given a fitting response in Shawn Kirchner's joyful work I'll Be on My Way. This disc is a meditative and healing listen in the midst of difficult times.
