Father, Forgive

Prayerful and poetic, this Good Friday offering is unforgettable. The anthem dramatically paints the picture of Jesus' first words from the cross: "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." A rich chorale-like opening gives way to a lyrical and gently layered Kyrie eleison section followed by a hushed closing. Beautiful and deeply moving, this is a very effective anthem anytime during the Lenten season but especially for Holy Week.
