Seven Pieces

(For Solo Guitar)
David Hahn - David Hahn
Publisher Desc.  This collection of two originals and five arrangements for solo guitar makes an effective suite for performance. Bagatelle, a more abstract piece from this collection, extensively uses the icampanellai effect. I have made The Trees They Grow So High, an English folk song with a beautifully lilting melody, into a set of variations. And who does not want a classy new version of Happy Birthday, here dressed up in an elegant jazz sound, for those black-tie occasions? With chords in the top three strings, Meadowbrook has the melody on the bass strings. Speak Low, Kurt Weill's hauntingly exquisite song, is the centerpiece of the film Phoenix where Nina Hoss sings it so stunningly. Somewhere Over The Rainbow, is a new addition to the many fine guitar arrangements of this iconic song, and Start Spreadin' The News, a take on Frank Sinatra's signature tune New York, New York, is an arrangement I wrote for a guitarist friend for his Carnegie Hall debut. I hope you will enjoy playing and performing the seven pieces collected in this volume.
