When the Choirs Start to Sing
Publisher Desc.
The pandemic that stunned the world in 2020 has had a tremendous impact on our lives. This statement has never been truer than it is in the context of education, specifically for choirs. Not being able to sing had a devastating effect on school, community, and church choirs. This song speaks of "dark days" and "lonely nights" that were emotionally difficult for singers and others as well. It contains lyrics that are metaphors for the emotional trauma we experienced by comparing it to the grief of war. Quotes like, "where have all the soldiers gone" and "where have all the singers gone" speak to a type of death that occurred when we were no longer able to sing in community. And all this took place at a time when many were experiencing so much social unrest that they felt as if "they could not breathe". But slowly but surely the choirs started to sing again, and the joy returned.
