Lord Jesus, Think on Me

(Lenten / penitential anthem)
Marchand, Todd - Con Spirito Music
Publisher Desc.  "Lord Jesus, Think on Me" is a translation and free paraphrase of a 5th-century poem by Synesius of Cyrene (ca. 375-414), crafted by Anglican cleric Allen W. Chatfield (1808-1896) and published in his "Songs and Hymns of Earliest Greek Christian Poets" (1876). The incipit of each verse, "Lord Jesus, think on [remember] me," recalls the words of the penitent thief to Jesus at their crucifixion, and the petitions for guidance, forgiveness, and succor make this a fitting anthem for the penitential season of Lent.
