An Appalachian Carol

This traditional Appalachian folk carol -- reflecting on the lowly circumstance of the newborn Christ-child lying in a manger while surrounded by cows, donkey, and ox -- in its own charming way echoes the words of the centuries-old Latin hymn "O Magnum Mysterium," which proclaims, "O great mystery and wonderful sacrament, that animals should see the newborn Lord, lying in a manger!" This very singable arrangement for SAB voices features lovely harmonies in the piano/organ accompaniment.
